12/31/2023 0 Comments Download the new for windows TrashMe![]() I'm just glad that the board is usable again. Now, why a BIOS flash would result in the processor needing a re-seat is beyond me, but I won't argue with success. It''s been working great ever since, and my BIOS did successfully flash to the update. I switched on the power and to my amazement the computer posted and booted. I removed the processor cleaned off the thermal paste reinstalled the processor applied new thermal paste and reinstalled the heat sink. I didn't put much faith in this idea, but I was getting ready to pitch the board anyway so I figured what the hell. Eventually it was suggested that 1) I remove my processor and replace it with a known good one or 2) go through the process of removing and re-seating the processor back in its socket. My BIOS chip was soldered into the board so no luck changing chips. I tried various "techniques" such as CMOS jumper, removing the battery overnight, etc., but unfortunately nothing worked. I flashed using a floppy received a message that BIOS was updated pressed F1 to reboot and oh sh*t the computer would no longer post. ![]() ![]() Bios chip is soldered to the board.Īny help to get a stupid a** out of a pinch would great.Ī similar thing happened to me a month ago. If I put the disk in I just get a beep - beepbeep without the buzzbuzz. I've downloaded a rescue disk and put the correct bios version on it. Just a black screen now, fans run, and a weird beep code that I can't find on any lists.īeep - beepbeep - buzzbuzz = Don't use a Windows Flasher? Windows was still operating, so I shutdown the computer, and that was the last of anything that worked on it. It started the bios install and gave me a few error messages that flashed up real fast then shut down the utility. I checked that it was the correct mobo version again visually, then hit the update bios button. It correctly detected my mobo, and had only one bios available it selected to install. I used the utility, windows flash utility (which I knew better) from Gigabyte. This board only has one bios chip installed on it. I have a 3.06mhz P4 - The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8LD533 with phoenix bios. I know I'm stupid so I'll admit that before you guys trash me.
